
C.A.R. Releases New Laws Chart for 2026
C.A.R. has published its annual chart, highlighting the most important new laws affecting REALTORS® and the real estate industry.
Highlights include:
- HOA Disclosures: The C.A.R.-sponsored SB 410 now requires HOAs to include the most recent balcony inspection report in disclosure packets.
- Digitally Altered Images: AB 723 prescribes new requirements when advertising properties with “digitally altered” images.
- Landlord Duty: A significant new law requires landlords to provide refrigerators and stoves to meet the duty of maintaining a habitable property.
- Additional Laws: These cover “third-hand smoke” disclosures, defensible space requirements, and a law reaffirming the privacy of an agent’s email address held by the DRE.
